‘একটা দেওয়াল। দেওয়ালের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে আছি আমি, আমরা, কমরেড, পার্টি। দেওয়ালে শাদা রঙের পোঁচ লাগিয়ে দিচ্ছে আমাদের বিশ্বাস। গুঁড়ো নীলে সুতলি চুবিয়ে লাইন দাগিয়ে দিচ্ছে আমাদের স্বপ্ন। রঙ-ভরা টিন ধরে থাকছে আমাদের রাজনীতি। এগিয়ে দিচ্ছে আমাদের লড়াই। দেওয়ালে আঁকা হয়ে যাচ্ছে আমাদের মুক্তাঞ্চল। আমাদের দেশ। ওয়ালিং শেষ করে মুঠো-করা হাত তুলে বলে উঠলাম, লাল সেলাম।’ এই ভাবে সত্তরের আগুন-ঝরা দিনে দেওয়াল লেখার মন মেজাজ ভয় উদ্বেগ আনন্দ থেকে তার রীতি প্রকরণ রাজনীতি ও নন্দনতত্ত্ব পর্যন্ত বিশদ করেছেন লেখক। এ তাঁর একার আত্মকথা নয় তাই, হয়ে উঠেছে সময়েরই সচিত্র আত্মকথন।
