সন্দীপন ভট্টাচার্য সম্পাদিত, সোমশঙ্কর রায় চিত্রিতআফ্রিকার লোকে বলে, ইঁদুর সব জায়গাতেই যায়– বড়লোকের বাড়িতেও যায়, আবার গরিবস্য গরিব, তার বাড়িতেও। আগেকার দিনে ইঁদুর যা দেখত, তা-ই দিয়ে গল্প বানাত। গল্পেরাই ছিল তার সন্তান। গল্পেরা তার বাড়িতেই থাকত, আর তার সব কাজ করে দিত। একদিন কোত্থেকে এক ভেড়া এসে ইঁদুরের বাড়িতে গুঁতো মারল। বাড়ির দরজাটা ছিল পুরনো, তাই সহজেই তা ভেঙে পড়ল, আর গল্পেরা সব দৌড়ে পালাল। সারা পৃথিবীতে সেই সমস্ত গল্প এখন ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে। তারই মধ্যে থেকে বেছে কয়েকটি এই বইয়ের দুটি খণ্ডে বাংলা ও ইংরাজি, দুই ভাষাতেই নতুন করে বলা হয়েছে। আর প্রতিটি গল্পের জন্য তার পাতা-জোড়া ছবি এঁকেছেন সোমশঙ্কর রায়।
